Francis and I want to wish all of our friends and customers a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!
Sunday, December 1, 2013
Gosh hardly seems possible that Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is around the corner!Dare I say 3 weeks and 3 days! We had a pretty good turnout for Cowboy Christmas event 2 weeks ago. Enjoy visiting with friends, family and public as they go through the craft fair.
Doing some rearranging of the "alpaca room" where all the totes are stored with product items, business items etc. We can finally walk through it.
We are suppose to have a storm and cold weather this week and dare I say I am looking forward to it.
I trade fleece for a lady to make items for me so she picked up more yesterday dwindling my stock in the fleece storage.
We need to draw blood for registrations and get ready to wean in Jan. Best put on my thinking cap for names, having the most trouble looking for one for our gray female.

Hard to believe that it is almost November. We have had a beautiful fall, with alot of moisture already and modest temperatures. The alpacas are enjoying it also munching on some green grass yet. Francis has been busy putting compost on the pastures and numerous other tasks. We've been doing some hand cleaning of cria fleece and I have been venturing into making felted snowmen and bear , first time so they are a little off but look pretty good. I got brave and dyed some yarn learned a few things and am using some to start weaving a purse. I love the colors and IT WILL BE COLORFUL!
Amazing the time you can come up with as an empty nester! HA!

It's been a busy week- Dusty, our son, got home Monday from Seattle where he was visiting his brother and sisters, and then we took him over to Laramie Thursday to start college.
We made a mad dash Friday down to LaPorte, CO. and then home and skirted fleece. I took 55# of fleece to Denver this am to meet Jay from The Shepherd's Mill at the ABR fleece sortathon. I saw and visited with several vendors and back home. WHEW!
I hope to take fleece down in Nov. to Fall Fest for AFCNA. There really aren't enough hours in the day to get things done.

State fair is over and the alpacas were a hit again. Everyone enjoyed seeing the alpacas especially the crias. We had a great week, sold lots of products and made new connections. Invited a lot of people to the Farm Day, September 28, 2013 and I hope they take the time to come see the rest of the herd. We go to visit with a lot of our friends and family making the week enjoyable. The youth alpaca show went well this year and the kids learned some tips from the judges.
Now its back to work and preparing for farm day!

Seems like the summer has flown by! Crias have been arriving, irrigating and replanting pastures, spraying weeds, canning and the big event preparing for our son's going off to college. YEP we'll be empty nesters. A few adjustments I think .
State Fair starts in one week and we'll be setting up our booth next sunday. The alpaca show is Thursday, Aug. 15 starting at 9am so come on down and watch the kids with their alpacas. There is showmanship, obstacle, public relations and costume events.
Pray for cooler weather so the alpacas hold up well.

Gosh hard to believe shearing is in juts 4 short days! Getting ready and hope the weather co-operates some. The alpacas are more than ready to get rid of their fleece and stay a bit cooler. Maybe this will start the crias coming- had some due 5/11!
Waiting to see how Sandollar and Liberty placed in the cottage fleece competition at AOBA Nationals. Quite pleased with the spin off results, Prarie Rose, 1st, Liberty, 5th and Sandollar, 4th. They did well.

Here we are on the eve before GWAS- guess we are as ready as we are going to be. Seems like we are always in a rush trying to get ready and not forget anything. Then throw in a visit to the vet and having to wait for 2 hours put a little stress on the day! Everything got done and just will finish packing up in the morning and off we go. The snow should be cleared off by mid morning and roads good. Very grateful for the moisture and hope we get more.
Hope our little juvies do well. Check back for updates after the show.
