Gosh hard to believe shearing is in juts 4 short days! Getting ready and hope the weather co-operates some. The alpacas are more than ready to get rid of their fleece and stay a bit cooler. Maybe this will start the crias coming- had some due 5/11! Waiting to see how Sandollar and Liberty placed in the cottage fleece competition at AOBA Nationals. Quite pleased with the spin off results, Prarie Rose, 1st, Liberty, 5th and Sandollar, 4th. They did well.

Here we are on the eve before GWAS- guess we are as ready as we are going to be. Seems like we are always in a rush trying to get ready and not forget anything. Then throw in a visit to the vet and having to wait for 2 hours put a little stress on the day! Everything got done and just will finish packing up in the morning and off we go. The snow should be cleared off by mid morning and roads good. Very grateful for the moisture and hope we get more. Hope our little juvies do well. Check back for updates after the show.

We are getting another large snow storm, winds 25mph+, zero to low visibility. So very grateful for the moisture we are getting, a good 9+" last Tues-Wed, 3" Sun am and at least 12" as of tonight, still snowing. It melted right into the ground as it warmed up, expect this to do the same as it has been so very dry. Not getting to work with the youngsters heading to GWAS as much, oh well probably not the only ones.

We have been working with our weanlings, teaching them to lead, set up when standing and desensitizing. They are getting use to us and trusting we aren't hurting them. The girls seem to be quicker to settle down and not rebel as much. We show at GWAS in about 6 weeks so I hope we will all be ready! We bought Zephry and Zephry like halters that adjust better for training , they seem to do well except for our Warbonnet male. He has a shorter face and full fleeced face so it makes it hard to get it fitted properly and will keep working on fine tuning it. He is a bit stubborn so I want to make sure the halter fits well so he learns proper behavior.
Smelled like rain tonight pray that we get some moisture this weekend. We are getting set up for the pen sale next Saturday, a busy weekend ahead.

Our pen sale is all set for March 23, 2013! Flyers are printed and ready for mailing and distribution, classified ads are placed now just need to clean up some of the barn and continue to work with our weanlings getting halter breaking done. We decided to have a pen sale this spring and sell some so we'd have room for new crias. This will be our first and hope it goes well.

Here's to a prosperous 2013! We are busy planning our first, open barn Pen sale to be held March 23, 2013 at our farm in Glenrock, WY. It was a challenge to find a Saturday not busy with sports and other activities. So we just picked a date and are looking forward to that day. I hope to line up a couple of demonstrations such as spinning , felting or something else fun. We are halter breaking our juveniles we have weaned and the 4 others yet to be weaned. Some of these will be shown at GWAS so need to be ready. I also have been busy skirting fleece to enter in cottage fleece competitions and spin-offs and will get them mailed in this week.

We want to wish all of our family, friends and business associates a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
It is a bittersweet time for us personally. We are grateful that our daughter, Jessi's brain surgery has turned out successfully and she is recovering. Praise Jesus!! Our hearts are sad with the sudden death of our oldest daughter, Sheila in September. She leaves 3 children and a husband. The first anniversaries of holidays and birthday are difficult but we are getting through them. The rest of our children will be home with us for the holidays, YAY!!
The alpacas are doing great, the weanlings are starting to gain weight again and full of energy. Time to wean more in another couple of weeks.
God bless you!!
